O Castro Art Village is a rural creative residency and an eco-friendly lodging space in the Ribeira Sacra region of Galicia, Spain. We offer creative residencies for artists, filmmakers, writers, researchers, and independent creators, as well as limited seasonal eco-friendly lodging in geodesic domes for travelers seeking comfort in nature.

We’re nestled in the hills and oak forests of the Ribeira Sacra, with views of the Miño river valley and surrounding vineyards. A car is recommended to reach us comfortably. Directions in our contact page.

O Castro is neither a hotel nor a programmed retreat.
It’s a place for intentional living, quiet focus, and creative work, with quality accommodation, shared spaces, and occasional cultural events.

We offer two dome experiences:
River View Domes: expansive views over the Miño valley
Forest Domes: shaded, intimate settings beneath oak canopies

Both types offer privacy, comfort, panoramic nature views, and modern amenities.

For creative residency, each dome accommodates up to three people.

For Eco-lodging, each dome accommodates up to four people.

Yes. They are well-insulated and equipped with heating and cooling systems, keeping them cool in summer and cozy in winter.

Yes. All domes have electricity, lighting, and hot water from efficient systems.

No, Laundry is not on site. We work with a local service in Chantada that offers pickup and drop-off service at additional cost.

Short stays are available only during selected seasons of the year, planned to ensure calm, privacy, and non-overlap with residency terms

No. Lodging is seasonal. Please contact us to confirm availability for your desired dates.

This is ideal for guests who value comfort, nature, quiet, and simplicity; couples, small families, or independent travelers with their own car.

No, meals are not included. You’re welcome to use the communal kitchen to prepare food or explore nearby restaurants and local groceries.

Yes. O Castro may host occasional music, film, or cultural events that are respectful of the overall calm. If your stay overlaps with an event you’re interested in, it can be a great bonus, but participation is always optional.

Yes. Free parking is available on site.

No, as much as we love, but for the time being, we cannot accept pets. 

The Creative Residency is a curated stay for people with projects that benefit from uninterrupted time, thoughtful space, and a supportive environment. This includes artists, filmmakers, writers, researchers, sound practitioners, and independent creators.

Paid Residency: You cover accommodation, food, and stay costs.
Sponsored Residency: Supported by external grants, institutional funding, or invitations from O Castro. Availability is limited and program dependent.

The minimum residency duration is two weeks. For stays longer than two months, we discuss the logistics and needs together.

No. There will be no overlap between Creative Residency terms, and Eco-lodging short stays. 

Yes. Wi-Fi is super fast, reliable and suitable for research, editing, and general connectivity.

Yes. Short-stay guests and creative residents both have access to the fully equipped communal kitchen. It’s shared respectfully and often becomes a place for conversation, cooking, and meals.

Residents and guests cook individually or together. Sometimes Davoud prepares Persian-fusion dishes inspired by family recipes and local ingredients, and others are encouraged to share their own culinary traditions.

Shared meals are casual, warm, and a places for relaxed exchange; no obligation, just enjoyment.

The Studio Above the Clouds — a shared loft workspace with:
• Desks and individual work zones
• A large central table
• Lounge area
• Screen and projector

It’s designed for writing, edit work, conversations, screenings, and informal gatherings.

And there is  a ton of unique outdoor space; forest, ruins, bodegas used by artists as sights for an installation.

Yes. Documentation and public sharing are optional. For selected or solicited projects, a professional team may record interviews, visual stories, short media, etc. These can be shared on O Castro’s platforms if you choose.

Yes. If  you choose to document your project, we will promote it on a variety of our platforms, such as a podcast, YouTube channel, instagram, and blog publications.

There is no instant booking — all residency stays are curated.

Short stays are arranged directly with us via email, WhatsApp (best method), or phone. Because availability is limited and seasonal, we recommend contacting us in advance.

No. Food is not included.
Laundry is not on site. We use an external pickup/drop-off service.

Specific costs are shared in the Paid Residency Costs & Conditions section and during booking.

For short-stay its a must. And for creative residency, a car is strongly recommended, as public transport options are limited. All public transport options are available on our contact page. 

Yes. Once your booking or residency is confirmed, we send detailed directions and access information. Also available on our contact page.

Families are welcome, but please contact us in advance to confirm appropriate dome arrangements.
