Candidato gallego al premio nacional arquitectura

National architecture award candidate

A project by O Saviñao, a candidate for a national architecture award

The renovated barn of O Castro Art Village has been proposed by the Colexio de Arquitectos de Galicia for the 2024 Architecture Awards

We are proud to announce that the first renovated building in our center has been selected as a candidate for a national architecture award. This old barn has been designed by our architect and friend Óscar López Alba and his team at OLA Estudios, who have supported and guided us throughout the design and construction process.

It was important to us to have an activity space where people could be inspired and unleash their creativity.
The goal was for them to be able to disconnect from the mundane to connect with their inner selves and with nature.
To do this, our architect proposed a room with two fully glazed walls, from where you can enjoy one of the most impressive views of the area.
In addition, the large window immerses you in the surrounding landscape generating great calm.

Another noteworthy aspect is the conservation of the materials of the old houses of the village: stone, wood and Arabic tiles.
In this way, we use local resources and manage to merge the ancestral with the modern, creating a rustic and warm atmosphere with an industrial and minimalist touch.

This barn, selected for the 2024 National Architecture Award, will be the space where we will hold various workshops, retreats and events.
In addition, right now we have two geodesic domes, where you can also stay to attend our activities or simply to spend the weekend.
The domes offer a unique experience with incredible views.
